F1 Calendar Update 2026: New Races Added

Formula 1 has announced the provisional calendar for the 2026 season, featuring a return to some classic tracks and a new street circuit.

Formula 1 has announced the provisional calendar for the 2026 season, featuring a record-breaking 24 races and a major new addition in Europe.

The Madrid Grand Prix

The headline addition is the Madrid Grand Prix, which joins the calendar as a new semi-street circuit around the IFEMA exhibition center.

  • Layout: A 5.47km track featuring both street sections and purpose-built segments.
  • Key Feature: A steep banked corner intended to challenge the new 2026 cars.
  • Indoor Paddock: Uniquely, the paddock and team hospitality units will be housed indoors within the exhibition halls.

  • Regional Grouping

To meet its Net Zero 2030 goals, F1 has further optimized the calendar flow to reduce air freight travel.

  • The Middle East Leg: Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar are grouped early in the year.
  • The European Leg: The traditional summer run remains, but with better logic to avoid zigzagging across the continent.
  • The Americas Leg: Miami, Canada, Austin, Mexico, Brazil, and Las Vegas are clustered to minimize transatlantic flights.

  • Classic Tracks Return

Despite the influx of street tracks, the 2026 calendar protects the sport's heritage. Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, and Suzuka all retain their spots, ensuring the new generation of cars will still be tested on the world's most historic tarmac.
